SIX WAYS TO REVIVE DULL, DRY SKIN

Your skin, like every other part of your body, will age with time. What is alarming is when your skin has an ashy, dull appearance; it is never a pretty sight. This dry and dull appearance could be because of dehydration, lack of moisturizer, buildup of dead skin cells, tobacco use, amongst others. If you are looking to revive your skin, here are a few ways you can do it.

AVOID HOT WATER

How water will strip your skin of whatever moisture it tries to retain. This will have a negative impact on your skin’s natural radiance. As much as you would really love a hot shower/ bath, it is advisable to drop the habit. If you must, use lukewarm water or preferable cold water.

MOISTURIZE

To revive your skin, you need to hydrate out as much as possible. Hydrated skin will look plump and dewy. Incorporate items like snail mucin, hyaluronic acid and glycerin into your skincare routine. You can never moisturize too much so it is okay to lay on your hydrating problems twice daily. You can use creams that are moisturizing or go for serums and face masks that are hydrating.

EXFOLIATE

Dead skin cells could be clogging your pores and covering up your natural glow. This is where exfoliating comes in. it will help remove dead skin cells to reveal fresh, beautiful skin underneath.

MAKE RETINOL YOUR FRIEND

Using products that are rich in Retinol will help replace dull skin with healthier, vibrant skin. Products with ingredients like vitamin c, alpha arbutin, azelaic acid, niacinamide, amongst others are also ideal if you want to brighten and even out your skin tone.

USE SUNSCREEN

Most times, sun damage can cause wrinkles and fine lines that contribute greatly to your skin’s dull appearance. The sun’s rays can also cause hyperpigmentation and sunburn. To avoid this, always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 (at least) during the day, whether you are indoors or outdoors. This will give your skin the need protection from the sun’s rays.

MIND WHAT YOU CONSUME

You should try to hydrate as often as you can. Drinking a lot of water has very little effect on your skin but if you are dehydrated, your skin will definitely endure the most of it. Drink a lot of water to avoid this. You can also consume fruits and vegetables that are rich in water and antioxidants. This will go a long way for your skin.
